COVID UPDATE

March 2, 2021

Dear Hope Family,

Greetings everyone! Let me start out by saying, WE MISS YOU!

Wow, 2020 - what happened? I did not see that coming. Thankfully, it’s over and 2021 has got to be better, right? Thank the Lord! But, in all seriousness, what makes Hope so special is the people. The connections we make and the fellowship we enjoy together. For about a year now, we have missed that and we have missed seeing those smiling faces on Sunday mornings. Videos and live streams are fine, in a pinch, but it’s just not the same thing as being there in person. So, I am writing you this letter to share some updates on where we are headed in 2021 and catch you up on anything you may have missed due to our forced hiatus.

Church Service - with the relaxed restrictions we can now occupy up to 50% capacity in our spaces, which means we are able to have up to 160 people in a church service, provided we social distance family units (6 ft.) and wear a mask. So, no need for a reservation. We happily invite you back to join us, your HOPE family.

Sunday School is BACK – Sunday, March 7th - Kristi has our Sunday School program back up and running with a revised model. Let the little ones come to Him, right. ([email protected] / 651-346-1212)

Bible Studies and small groups - are in progress and new ones will be launching soon with both in person and distance options. The council is engaging in a new series after church on Sunday in the sanctuary. That's right you get to see people again. We of course will maintain safe social distancing for seating and you still will need those pesky masks, for now, but it gives us a taste of normalcy again. Anyway, it’s called Built on the Rock, and you are welcome to join us, in the Word.

Communion - we are still practicing the same protocol to avoid contact and give proper spacing, however, we will be suspending the drive up communion going forward. If there is a need for other methods to receive the Sacrament, just let Pastor Ken know and he will help arrange a way to fit your specific needs. ([email protected] / 612-380-5417)

Fellowship - is a work in progress, we are looking at creative ways to slowly bring that back and meet the guidelines. The main concern is ensuring we do not impact the Preschool areas so more to come.

Offerings - yes, we will still accept them. We still have the plates for the traditionalist, they are placed around the sanctuary for your touch free convenience. We do encourage you to sign up for 100% contact free online giving, its automatic, set it and forget it, no more trying to remember the check book or digging for coins in the couch! If you are like me and are computer challenged, it’s okay, you can use text or India will personally walk you through it; she’s pretty amazing.

Preschool - well, it’s doing amazing. The sign up is here and new class offerings are going live, some are full already and the rest are filling up fast, so tell your friends. Katherine and the staff are doing wonderful things with the programs and lots of new families looking for Christian learning options. ([email protected] / 651-346-1213)

Voters Meeting - Next one is March 22 at 6:30PM in person or via Zoom. Practice your Aye and Nay’s. #Rock the Vote

Communications - Stay tuned to the weekly announcements via email or phone/text. Reminder, if you have not seen any lately, please contact Gwen your updated contact information. New ideas, new guidelines, new news; things are constantly changing so there will be lots to come. STAY CONNECTED. ([email protected] / 651-346-1214)

Goals - What else is going on you say? Well, the council met and we have set our goals for the church this year. Last year we did not get that far, as COVID struck and it felt like we were banished to wander the desert for a year. There is hope in sight…at Hope.

This year’s theme is: CONNECT and RE-CONNECT

What does that mean? Well, we are working on ways to RE-CONNECT to our church and our fellow members.

  • We will CONNECT with the Word of the Lord.
  • We will CONNECT with our community.
  • We will CONNECT our Preschool to our members.

It’s all very exciting stuff, so if you are tired of DIY home projects, or want to see some new/old faces come join us, as your health and comfort level allows. We are working to give you more options for CONNECTING with the WORD and the outside world. So come on back, you are always welcome. Until then we will be praying for you and sing extra loud for you on Sunday, but we are here for you when you need us, after all we are a family.

I challenge you to reflect and look for new ways you can LOVE, GROW, and SERVE to make Hope great with us. Small groups are looking for new leaders, our sub-committees could use more helpers, and/or bring us more new ideas to share your skills and gifts.

If you have not been here in a while, the address is up top but, just know we are still here and we will be here for you, from a distance and in our church, when you are ready. We wish you all the best and hope to see you soon.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and God bless you,

Wade Beyer
